Block 95 - as I was winding down and sewing the last few blocks I realized I was missing something - Tula Pink fabric! I made this with my favorite Tula fabric from her Salt Water collection.  Thank you Tula for your inspiration!

Blocks 76 - 80

I finally had time to sit down and work on some more blocks.  I put my name in one block, see if you can find it.  And I had a lot of fun planning block 80.  I had several different small blocks and ended up matching the suits, as if they were hanging to dry after playing at the beach all day.

Blocks 71 - 75

Well, I've slowed down a little on my Tula blocks.  I've been thinking about Patrick's Star Wars quilt and designing Christmas ornaments/gift tags.  I'll post more on the Christmas ornaments soon so check out JulieqQuilts for more.

Here are blocks 71 - 75...

Block 71...doesn't this just say "summer" to you?  Riding your bike and swimming all day, fun times!

Block 72...this turned out to be one of my very favorite Tula blocks so far!

Block 73...used a bit from Moda's Noteworthy by Sweetwater.  I think it works as my summer "to do" list!

Block 74...I swapped the light and dark values in this block.

Block 75...I love how the border around the feature fabric looks.

That's it for now.  I hope you're inspired!

Blocks 61 - 70

These 10 blocks are trickier than many of the others.  Lots of small strips to be sewn together.  Use a pin or the end of a seam ripper to carefully guide your fabric through the sewing process.  I am glad this section of the book is over!

Blocks 51 - 60 Are Done!

Here are the next 10 blocks.  You may notice that block 60 looks different from the layout in the book.  First, I really don't like Tula's block #60 (and that won't bother her at all!)  But I am making myself stitch every single block.  I made several versions of block 60...make that 4 versions!!  I think part of the problem with the block is the fact that I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be.  Finally, on the 4th try, I thought maybe it's an abstract sewing machine.  What ever!  After the 4th block which I made with scraps from other blocks, I squared it up and found it was almost a 1/4" short.  No way was I going to make a 5th version so that's why you see the extra strip at the bottom.

The one area where I should have paid more attention is to the colors and contrast Tula used.  I do wish I had more contrast in my blocks.  On block 54 I wish I'd had more contrast in the two orange fabrics.  The the 1.5" square in block 57 should have had more contrast so it popped.  Oh well, you know what they say, hind site is 20-20.  I hope I remember all this when I start my second 100 blocks quilt.

Enough already, here are blocks 51 - 60.
